Scott Quinnell
To mark his retirement from Rugby, Sportscast cast the boots of Llanelli, Wales and Lions legend Scott Quinnell.
Renowned as one of the greatest Number 8's in the game Scott had an outstanding career appearing 52 times for Wales, spanning 10 years. He appeared for Llanelli as an 18 year in 1990 against Penygroes.
His career quickly developed as he went on to represent Llanelli 146 occasions, scoring 32 tries in the process
before switching to Rugby League in 1994. He finally returned to Llanelli in 1998 and since the domestic Welsh game went
regional, he has appeared 59 times for the Scarlets, scoring 10 tries.
Scott's first cap for Wales came against Canada in 1993 as did his final Welsh cap in 2002. He scored 11 tried for Wales and captained his country on 7 occasions. He also toured twice with the British Lions, to South Africa in 1997 and Australia in 2001. |

Gareth
Edwards
Cardiff, Wales & British Lions legend and
voted Worlds Greatest Rugby Player. Sportscasts
present the boots worn in the early 70's - the
start of Wales' Golden Era.
GARETH EDWARDS became the youngest player to captain Wales in 1968. He subsequently became the most capped international to play for Wales. An ever present for Wales in their Golden Era of the 70's winning 3 Grand Slams, 5 Triple Crowns and undertaking 3 British Lions Tours he established himself with performances also for Cardiff and The Barbarians as the greatest scrum half ever, scoring some of the most memorable and spectacular tries and for many the greatest try ever in a tour game against the All Blacks in 1973 (the Barbarians were deep in their own 22, the ball passed between 6 pairs of hands before Edwards burst onto a pass and dived into the corner). He was the ultimate finisher and scored a remarkable 20 tries, this was due to his strength but moreover his desire to win. He was recently voted the Worlds greatest rugby player ever, testimony to his enduring quality and class. |
