Scott Quinnell

To mark his retirement from Rugby, Sportscast cast the boots of Llanelli, Wales and Lions legend Scott Quinnell.

Renowned as one of the greatest Number 8's in the game Scott had an outstanding career appearing 52 times for Wales, spanning 10 years. He appeared for Llanelli as an 18 year in 1990 against Penygroes. His career quickly developed as he went on to represent Llanelli 146 occasions, scoring 32 tries in the process before switching to Rugby League in 1994. He finally returned to Llanelli in 1998 and since the domestic Welsh game went regional, he has appeared 59 times for the Scarlets, scoring 10 tries.
 
Scott's first cap for Wales came against Canada in 1993 as did his final Welsh cap in 2002. He scored 11 tried for Wales and captained his country on 7 occasions. He also toured twice with the British Lions, to South Africa in 1997 and Australia in 2001.

Tom Shanklin, together with Gavin Henson, formed the Grand Slam center partnership which proved to be so successful in breaking down the opposition defence during the 2005 RBS Six Nations Championship.

His performaces for the Blues and for Wales ensured his inclusion in the 2005 British and Irish Lions although this was cut short due to injury.

Of all the British Lions teams to have been assembled, none was more successful than the team that left Britain and Ireland in 1974 to tour South Africa. They played 22, won 21 and drew 1. They amassed an incredible 729 points, with only 207 against. This included a 3-0 test series victory against the mighty Springboks a feat that had not been achieved for 78 years. In that legendary side was the mercurial Welsh outside half PHIL BENNETT scoring 103 points his 50 yard try in the 28 - 9 second test victory in Pretoria was an example of his individual brilliance and made him the star of the tour. One of the Worlds truly great rugby players and these are the boots he actually wore on that tour playing in all of the Tests.
2004 marked the 30th anniversary of this triumphant Lions tour of South Africa. What better way to mark this momentous occasion than to own a pair of Bennys Sportscasts boots from that historical tour.

Neil Jenkins is the most prolific goal kicker in the history of international rugby A match winner with Pontypridd and Wales his crowning moment came with the British Lions in South Africa in 1997 when his unerring accuracy with the boot earned the tourists only their second series win against the Springboks. Capped by Wales when he was only 19 NEIL JENKINS became a beacon of light in his country's gloomiest period. Neil followed in the footsteps of Welsh rugby legends such as Cliff Morgan, David Watkins Barry John, Phil Bennett and Jonathan Davies. Neil Jenkins became the first player to score 1000 international points and is currently the rugby international points World record holder.

Sportscasts present the Llanelli and Wales boots he wore in the 1988 Triple Crown Winning Season (last time Wales won the Triple Crown). Jonathan scored a record number of points including most drop goals and was voted Whitbread World Rugby Player of the Year.

JONATHAN DAVIES was the last of the great running Welsh fly halves. Blessed with all the attributes of those who went before him switching to League in 1989 he was hailed as one of the greatest players of both codes. His vision, speed of thought, pace and magical handling skills set him apart from his rivals. JONATHAN DAVIES played a pivotal role in the Welsh Triple Crown of 1988. His running game cut England to pieces whilst it was his drop goals against Scotland that secured victory. The boots he wore during this historical season have been Sportscasted recognising his achievement is scoring a record number of points and record number of drop goals. He was also voted Whitbread World Rugby Player of the Year.

Cardiff, Wales & British Lions legend and voted Worlds Greatest Rugby Player. Sportscasts present the boots worn in the early 70's - the start of Wales' Golden Era.

GARETH EDWARDS became the youngest player to captain Wales in 1968. He subsequently became the most capped international to play for Wales. An ever present for Wales in their Golden Era of the 70's winning 3 Grand Slams, 5 Triple Crowns and undertaking 3 British Lions Tours he established himself with performances also for Cardiff and The Barbarians as the greatest scrum half ever, scoring some of the most memorable and spectacular tries and for many the greatest try ever in a tour game against the All Blacks in 1973 (the Barbarians were deep in their own 22, the ball passed between 6 pairs of hands before Edwards burst onto a pass and dived into the corner). He was the ultimate finisher and scored a remarkable 20 tries, this was due to his strength but moreover his desire to win. He was recently voted the Worlds greatest rugby player ever, testimony to his enduring quality and class.

One of the games greatest players a huge success in Union and League for Wales and the British Lions. Player of the Tour to S. Africa in 1997 but probably best remembered for the winning try against England at Wembley in 1999.

The boots he wore scoring that try have been Sportscasted and presented to Scott in a special presentation frame. Scott commented it was the best award he had been given in his rugby career!

He has scored 37 tries in 63 internationals for his beloved All Blacks, eighth in the World all time listings and is the record try scorer in World Cup history with 15.
