The Concept
Capture the glory with our unique Sports Memorabilia
Handcrafted from the very item of sports memorabilia
you send us, your Sportscasts is made by using the same
process as any cast sculpture. First the original sports
item is cast in plaster to make the mould in which a
clay slip replica of the shoe/item is made, perfect
to the last detail. The cast is then chased refined
by hand and allowed to air dry, kiln fired before your
choice of metallic glaze is applied by hand, re-fired
and then the original pieces returned (on request) to you undamaged
along with your Sportscasts Limited Editions!
Sportscasts was founded in Wales, a country which has
produced generations of sporting legends many of whom
today provide the inspiration of tomorrow. It is very
much a part of Celtic history to want to preserve those
heroes who have inspired the very soul of a proud nation.
Sportscasts was born out of a vision to combine the
creativity and craftsmanship of ceramic art with the
artistry and grace of sport.
Sportscasts has dedicated its time to creating lasting
reminders of athletes and sports people past and present.
The philosophy of the company is a very basic one, to
design and create quality ceramic replicas of athletes
actual sports shoes or treasured items that they wore
whilst making sporting history. The boots worn when
scoring the winning goal, try or hat trick. The shoe
or club that was used sinking the winning putt or hole
in one, even the gloves worn when saving a vital penalty
- to include those heroes of yesterday with the new
heroes of tomorrow.

The Casting Process |
Creating a beautiful Sportscast replica boot is not a quick or easy process. It involved many man hours of work from a skilled crafts man and can take up to 3 weeks to complete.
Each boot or shoe is painstakingly finished by hand, each lace added to the boots manually and then coated in the chosen finish before mounting. |

Gavin Henson - from Welsh hero to Sportscast model |
First of all, Gavin Henson creates sporting history by kick starting Wales 6 Nations campaign and slots over a penalty goal from 44 meters to beat England and win the game for Wales.
Final score, Wales 11 - England 9.
Gavin becomes a national treasure overnight and passes his historical rugby boots over to Sportscasts to have them immortalized by our process.

Each boot is carefully embedded in plaster to create a perfect mould which will clearly show every minute detail, every graze, cut, scuff mark, rip - each blemish telling its own story about the games that the boots have played in. |
The hand finishing
The mould taken from the boots is then used to create the clay slip replica of each boot. This process is where the Sportscast process is unique and is jealously guarded.
The finished item is a plain, ceramic replica of the boot which is chased refined by hand, has the laces applied and then is coated in the chosen finish (natural, bronze, silver or gold finishes are available) and then re-fired in the kiln.
These boots will then be mounted either on a wooden plinth or into a stunning wooden and glass frame. |
The finished item

Shown here is a framed version of Gavin Henson's boots worn during the 98 - 0 win over Japan in the Autumn of 2004 in which Gavin kicked 14 conversions (a new record in international rugby).
These boots were given to the Toby Lloyd Cockbain Trust to be auctioned at a dinner in March 2005. They raised an amazing £8500 for charity.
